DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER, JAMMU INAUGURATES ONE DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME ON “MANAGEMENT COMPETENCIES” AT IIPA, J&K REGIONAL BRANCH
One day training programme on “Management Competencies” wasorganized by Indian Institute of Public Administration, J&K Regional Branch, Jammu and was inaugurated by ShriShantmanu, IAS Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, The programme was attended by 56 officers from various state government departments including Police, Civil Administration, SMVDSB, and J&K Bank. While inaugurating the training programme Divisional Commissioner, Jammu emphasized that during the delivery of public service the active cooperation of public at large must be ensured for the desired results. He exhorted the young officers that ‘whenever in doubt while decision making’ think of the common man’. He further laid stress upon improving the management competencies by balancing the personal, professional and social life to become an effective tool in the delivery of public service.
During the course of proceedings Dr Ashok Bhan Chairman IIPA, J&K Regional Branch welcomed the chief guest, faculty and the participants and impressed upon the significance of this programme in bringing the ‘practitioners’ and academicians at a common platform. He impressed upon the participants that while maintaining discipline in public service, the officers must try to think out –of- the- box solutions in order to encourage initiative in thesubordinate team members.
The resource persons for this programmewere from The Business School, University of Jammu comprisingProf Versha Mehta, Director, The Business School, University of Jammu, Prof Alka Sharma, Dr Anil Gupta, DrKomal Nagar, who deliberated and held interactive discussion on contemporary topics including Attitude for Excellence, Communication for Interpersonal Effectiveness, Service orientation,which was followed by a panel discussion on Leadership and Team Building in which panelists were DrNeelikaArora, Central University of Jammu, Mrs. SamitaSethi, Joint Director, Information and Mr Shiv Kumar Gupta, Joint Director, Tourism and Dr Ashok Bhan acted as a moderator . Prof Versha Mehta presented the formal vote of thanks and ShriJ.B.S.JoharHony Secretary, IIPA, J&K Regional Branch was the organizing Secretary for the programme.
