PROCEEDINGS OF THE 27th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE J&K REGIONAL BRANCH

1- The Annual General Body Meeting of the J&K Regional Branch of the Indian Institute of Public  Administration  was held on January 9, 2005 at Jammu. 45 members attended  the meeting. Dr Ashok Bhan, Honorary Secretary presented   the annual report and  the Receipt and Payment Account for the year ending March 200t  sented by Shri T.P.Singh,  Honorary Treasurer.

2-  Elections were held in accordance with the Bye-laws with Shri Sati Sahni acting as the Returning Officer. The following Office Bearers were elected unopposed:-

3-  The General  Body  had unanimously resolved  that the Honorary  Secretary  may nominate the remaining officer bearers and members of the Executive Committee. Consequent  upon this, the following Office Bearers and members of the Executive Committee  were  nominated  by the  Honorary  Secretary  and  declared  elected  by  the Returning Officer on January 10, 2006.

4-  The  Annual meeting of the General Body was held with Dr S.S.Bloeria, the new Chairman presiding over the proceedings. The following suggestions were made by the members which will be put before the new Executive Committee in its first meeting for appropriate action:-

a)  A booklet of good presentations made during 2005 can be published. It was suggested that it can be a priced publication.

b)  The  Hon'ble Chairman wanted the Executive Committee to consider constituting
of a committee for publication purpose.

c)  Whenever useful recommendations are made, these should be   referred to the concerned department in the
Government.

d)  A Website of the J&K Regional Branch should be created.

e)  Prof K.L.Bhatia should prepare a brief  note on the suggestions about amending the Accountability Act, for further necessary action.

f)  A quarterly Newsletter of the Regional Branch can be published. However, it was felt that a Website of the Institute can serve the purpose.

g)  A member wanted the functions to be held outside Jammu or Srinagar and suggested Udhampur as the venue for some programme.

h)  A member wanted a National Seminar on Town Planning to be organized by the Regional Branch.
