Two days training workshop on field data collection for the projects titled: Baseline survey on educational, socio-economic status of SC in Jammu Region and implementation of SC/ST (PCR) Act, 1955. & SC/ST (POA) Act 1989 (March 30, 2024)

The J&K Regional Branch of IIPA, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and the J&K Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Scheduled Castes, organized a two-day training workshop on field data collection for the Baseline Survey on Educational and Socio-Economic Status of SCs in Jammu Region and the Implementation of SC/ST (PCR) Act, 1955 & SC/ST (POA) Act, 1989 on April 2-3, 2023. The workshop aimed to familiarize field investigators with the projects’ objectives, methodologies, and legal frameworks, with sessions led by experts including Prof. Rekha Chowdhary and Dr. Zeba. Practical field exercises enhanced data collection skills, and the valedictory session emphasized the importance of authenticity, empathy, and unbiased research. This initiative is crucial, as it provides the first baseline survey on the 13 sub-castes of Scheduled Castes in Jammu and supports policy development for marginalized communities, following the 2019 reorganization of the state.
