Ease of doing business will lead to ‘Make in India’
Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) J&K Regional Branch today organized the 2nd Shri Ram Sahai Memorial Lecture on “Make in India: Industries Perspective” in memory of Late Shri Ram Sahai, one of the founding members of the Regional Branch. Shri Alok B Shriram, President PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi, delivered the key note address and Shri Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, (IAS) Financial Commissioner, Industries and Commerce, Government of J&K was the chief guest of the function. The function was held under the guidance of Dr. Ashok Bhan, Patron IIPA, J&K Regional Branch.

Shri Alok B. Shriram in his key note address said that the prospects of the Indian industry are bright however India is still ranking very low in the ‘Ease of doing business’. In this regard, Prime Minister’s initiative of ‘Make in India’ will give a boost to the manufacturing sector by increasing employment prospects and fostering innovation. He further pointed out that although India is the third largest economy of the world in terms of purchasing power parity, the inadequacies of infrastructure poses a problem in conducting business and improvement of the system will require concerted efforts.

Sh. Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Ganai also acknowledged the contributions of Late Shri Ram Sahai who worked towards the welfare of the state, beyond his own self interests.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. B. R. Sharma, Chairman IIPA, J&K Regional Branch reiterated that the concept of ‘Made in India’ can be successful only when we change our outlook towards things and change our mindset. He hoped that the government will take measures to improve the ease of doing business in the state.
