6th Sat Paul Sahni Memorial Lecture on “Kal-Aaj-Aur-Kal: India story through Bollywood”

The J&K Regional Branch of Indian Institute of Public Administration organized the 6th Sat Paul Sahni Memorial Lecture on “Kal-Aaj-Aur-Kal: India story through Bollywood” on December 18, 2015 (Friday).

Prof Ashok Ogra, Director Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi delivered the key note address in presence of Jenab Naeem Akhtar, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Jammu & Kashmir and Sh. B R Sharma, IAS Chairman of IIPA J&K Regional Branch. The lecture was attended by eminent citizens of state including Dr. S S Bleoria, Dr. Ashok Bhan, Patron, IIPA, members of IIPA, media fraternity, and civil society.

Prof Ashok Ogra in his presentation reflected on India transformation through the lens of Indian cinema citing various examples of bollywood movies. He traced back various economic, social, political and cultural reforms happening spread over several decades since Independence.

Jenab Naeem Akhtar, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Jammu & Kashmir in his address said that J&K is the last and final bastion of God which reflects a multi cultural, multi religious society of different ethnic extractions. He said the challenge before us is to preserve and strengthen the uniqueness of our region and culture.

Prof. K L Bhatia while paying rich tribute to Late Shri Sat Paul Sahni said that he was a perfectionist and an institution in itself. He said that Sh. Sahni was a multi-dimensional personality having the privilege of covering all the four war of India and Pakistan. He said that Sh. Sahni was having an eye for detail and would capture instances that are now part of rare collection.

Earlier Prof. Alka Sharma, Director (Seminars) formally welcomed the august gathering and introduced the speaker. Er. J B S Johar, Hony Secretary presented the formal vote of thanks. Dr. Komal Nagar, Joint Director (Seminars) conducted the proceedings of the function.
