Two days workshop on "Learning the Craft of Writing" organized jointly by IIPA J&K Kashmir and Central University of Kashmir was held on 20 & 21 Nov.2017 at the Academic Block of Campus I of Central University of Kashmir.
In the Inaugural session Vice-Chancellor, CUK, Prof Mehraj-ud-Din Mir, Joint Director Seminars, IIPA (J&K Chapter) Prof S M Afzal Qadri, and Director Research and Development, Prof. Abdul Gani were present.
The seminar on its first day was also attended by columnists Ajaz-ul-Haque and Dr Ajaz A Baba, Coordinators Department of English and Convergent Journalism, Dr. Ihsan ur Rahim Malik and Dr. Asif Khan, Deans of Schools, Heads and Coordinators of Departments and students were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din Mir said the art of writing as well as communicating is very important and essential in every field.
He asked the students to pose questions to the experts in order to gain more knowledge about writing skills from the workshop.
Joint Director Seminars, (IIPA) Prof. S M Afzal Qadri said the job of "our institution is to provide the platform to the students to discuss the prevailing issues in the society and in this connection, this workshop on learning the craft of writing has been organized."
He said the art of writing is just like any other art.
In the Valedictory session the welcome address was delivered by Prof S M Afzal Qadri and presidential address by Prof. Mehraj-ud-Din VC Central University of Kashmir. The experts included academicians from Central University of Kashmir, University of Kashmir and Senior Journalists.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by S.G.M Andrabi Joint Secretary IIPA Kashmir.
About 50 students ( boys & girls) from KU,CUK and Government Woman College M A Road attended the workshop. Q&A sessions after every Technical Session, aroused lot of interest among the students who were all praise and thanked the organizers for such a unique opportunity provided to them. Their enthusiasm was highly appreciated by the experts and other dignitaries. Senior Member IIPA G J Nahvi IAS Retd also briefly addressed the concluding session.
The Workshop concluded with valedictory remarks by A M Watali Vice Chairman IIPA Kashmir and vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Rashid Maqbool of Central University of Kashmir.
