PROCEEDINGS OF THE 31st ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE J&K REGIONAL BRANCH


1- A meeting of the IIPA  J&K  Regional  Branch  was  held  on January  2, 2010 in the IIPA  Building Jammu  under  the  Chairmanship of  Dr S.S.Bioeria. 52  Members attended the meeting (List enclosed).

2- At the  outset,  the  Hony  Secretary welcomed the  members to the  Annual General Body  Meeting. He presented his  report  in which  he enumerated the activities undertaken by  the  Regional Branch  during the  year  2009. The  General Body  was  apprised of  the Executive Committee decisions of construction of chowkidar room  as also  some  repairs to the building, installation of an electric  connection / meter  and purchase of table for the dais and chairs.  The General Body approved  the constructional  activity  and   the purchases.  The   Hony   Secretary  thanked   the  members  for   extending  cooperation  in earrying out  various  activities by the  Branch  during his tenure. He  wished  the  members and  their families a very happy  new year.

3-    The  Hony  Treasurer presented the Annual  statement of accounts and  apprised  the house   of  the  receipts   and  expenditures  incurred   on  construction  and  other   acti\ i1 ies dming the years,  which were approved by the general  body.

 

4-    Dr S.S.Bloeria. Chairman in his address emphasized the  need  for harnessing the expertise  available  with   the   Regional  Branch.  The   Government  and   Public   Sector Undertakings can  be provided  consultancy The  Regional Branch  should  be developed as a  think  tank  to make a mark at the national  level. The expert pool  should  be utilized  with an aim to further sharpen  it.

5-   This was  followed by election s to the Executive Committee. Shri  V . N.Sharma :-

6-      The  new  office   bearers  took  over  and  suggestion regarding future programmes  etc were sought  from the members.  A member pojnted  out that the aim of the Regional  Branch should be to address common man's  problems and  ensure  that  the  proceedings   of  such  programmes  trickle down to the benefit of common masses. Another mernber highlighted that the outcome of the  seminars  and  other programmes should  be shared  with  the  concerned government quarters  for action to bring improvement  in governance. Training programmes for  middle  rung  officers  of  the  government   and  even  Public Sector Undertakings and private companies  should  be organized, the members suggested.   Prof  Aima,  a  life  member  was  of  the  view  that  training and placement should  be included in the agenda of the Regional Branch.

7-      The  General Body was  unequivocal  in suggesting that more and  more educated  people  should .be brought  into the liPA  fold  by makig enrollment and   increasing    membership.  A   member    informed   that   sotne   associate members  have  been  repeatedly   requesting   for  conversion   of  their  present membership status to Life membership  but nothing has been done so far. They were assured  that the matter will be taken up with IIPA Headquarters.

8-      The  meeting  concluded  with  New  Year Greetings  to the members  and their families by the new body.
