PROCEEDINGS OF THE 25th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE J&K REGIONAL BRANCH



The Annual General Body meeting of the j&K Regional Branch of Indian Institute of Public Administration was held on January 24, 2004 at 7.30 p.m at Jehlum Resorts. Jammu. List of 61 members who attended the meeting is enclosed. Shri Ram Sahai, Vice Chairman, in the absence of the Chairman, presided over the meeting. The age:ida for the meeting was as follows:

a) Report of the Honv Secretary
b) Report of the Hony Treasurer
c) Elections
d) Any other matter with the permission of the chair
2- The Hony Secretary, Dr Ashok Bhan presented the annual report, a copy of which is enclosed.

3- Shri T.P.Singh, Hony Treasurer presented the annual audited financial report, which was approved by the general body. A copy of the report is enclosed.

ELECTIONS

4- Maj Gen Retd B.N.Dhar, PVSM, a senior member of the J&K Regional Branch of IIPA acted as returning officer for the elections of the office bearers and executive committee for the year 2004. All elections were unanimous except for the post of Vice Chairman Central, for which there was a contest between Shri A.MAVatali and Shri CM.Seth. Shri A.M. Watali was declared elected. The office bearers for the year 2004 are as follows:-

5- S/Shri Arun Gupta, P.N. Daftri and S.N. Sharma will be special invitees for the year 2004.

6- The new office bearers took-over. The Returning Officer was thanked by the Hony Secretary. The General Body also moved a resolution appreciating the performance of the previous Executive Committee.

7- Shri Sati Sahni, a senior member of the Regional Branch informed the members that the year 2004 is the Silver Jubliee year of teh Regional Branch and we should organize programmes to commemorate this year. Suggestions made in this regard included organizing of series of silver jubilee lectures.Amember suggested that a couple of seminars on contemporary issues like peace and harmony and situation in South - East Asian Region could be organized. Shri Sati Sahni also suggested organizing of a training programme on any aspect of management. A member suggested that in collaborations with Institute of Engineers a Disaster Management programme could be organised. All these issues will be discussed in the next Executive Committee Meeting.

8- DR Neera Chandhok, a well-known historian is visiting Jammu on Feb 13/14 and she has shown her willingness to speak under the bauspices of IIPA on a subject of contemporary relevance. The general body approved the suggestion and authorized the Hony Secretary to take further decision in consultation with Prof Rekha Choudhary.

9- The Meeting ended with a vote of thanks for the Chair.
